TV or Projector- A Common Question

TV or Projector- A Common Question

When we meet with clients to begin planning their new audio visual systems the big question we get is, should I go with projection or TV? We wish there was a simple answer but there are many variables to consider when planning for either option. This is why working with an experienced and professional audio visual integrator like PureCI is so important.

When weighing out your options here are some things to consider when deciding on a projection system or TV.

  • Where are you going to be using this system in the house? Are you on the main floor? In the basement? Family room or bedroom?
  • How much ambient light is penetrating the room itself? Is it easy to control the ambient light in the room?
  • What time of day are you typically using this room?

How “BIG” do you want to go? What size screen were you thinking about? There is no right or wrong answer. But again the room size has to be considered in this decision. Too small of a screen and it disappears on the wall. Too large and it takes over the functionality of the space.

Video is just one aspect of your system. Audio is equally as important to your overall experience. What type of audio system were you thinking about using? A simple sound-bar? Or a full surround sound system? Surface mounted speakers? Or in-wall speakers to create a streamlined look?

Something else most clients overlook is infrastructure changes to the space. What does this mean? When planning for a new system in an already existing space, changes will need to be made to the following:

  • Are you prepared to cut and re-do drywall. Re-paint after work is completed?
  • Are you planning for any sound-proofing infrastructure?
  • Electrical re-wiring to accommodate your new system requirements?

Finally the most important question we ask our clients is about budget. What are you planning on budgeting for your wants? This is always a loaded question and we at PureCI understand that. But you have to be realistic with yourself and your wants. There is no truer saying then “you get what you pay for” and when it comes to audio visual systems this statement 100% accurate. There are many options on the market and we do our best to responsibly use the budget that you have presented us with. There are always value added intangibles to consider like industry experience, system design, troubleshooting and technical support. Paying for your system components is one aspect of your system, but working with a dedicated, diligent and experienced integrator takes your new system to a whole new level. So let our team at PureCI help guide you through this process and create the new audio visual system of your dreams.
